what you can do to help
Example - Proud City is continually working to maintain an outreach support fund to enable active citizenship activity in targeted areas where little support is available. Funds will be used to enable active citizens to achieve their goals in their community and be valued with iPAC accreditation from City & Guilds when appropriate.
Our outreach activity is increasingly about supporting community events, new community group start ups and community celebrations. Our involvement ensures currency of knowledge about community activism for iPAC delivery, access to influential networks to get things done, helps our team keep their management skills refreshed and adds a lot of value back into the community. Examples include:
- Staff volunteering time and expertise to support / organise events
- Acting as supporting banker for new group start ups
- Assisiting with funding applications
- Providing raffle prizes for charity fundraising
- Helping community groups access better prices for printing
- Supporting an annual LGBT community sports awards dinner
- Community relay races for local charities
- Sponsoring the Ist National LGBT Sports Summit report
- Sharing resources to enable increased activity
- Enabling access to resources
you can help stimulate more active citizenship activity by:
- Donating raffle prizes
- Offering goods and services in return for recognition and promotion e.g. printing
- Providing marketing and publicity services
- Enabling low cost insurance for community groups
- Sponsoring individual learners or groups of learners
- Providing venue space for specific events e.g meetings, dances, sports etc
- Donating cash for a new group start up fund e.g. £400 for renting pitches or courts for a specific start up period while the group gets established.
Support in this way can offer experiential learning opportunities, provide opportunities for employee development, strengthen your brand and attract tax relief. It's up to you?
